TEXTURE LAYER
Because the texture (or "thickness") of the paint surface is an integral part of the color technique of this painting, I devote several sessions to consciously building up the paint (detail at right). This allows me to weave layers of wet paint over dry in the coming stages. I intentionally assign greater texture to closer objects (the house and ground) and less texture to the sky. This difference helps suggest varying depths of space.
